Samrat Prithviraj Review
Samrat Prithviraj is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language historical action drama film directed by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Film starring Akshay Kumar as Prithviraj Chauhan, while Manushi Chillar ( Miss World 2017) makes her Hindi film debut playing the role of Sanyogita.
The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Manav Vij, Sakshi Tanwar and Ashutosh Rana in other pivotal roles. The whole movie is based on historical events that occurs in the past. Filmmakers tried to make it grand but they failed disasterly. The movie was quite good in terms of story but there is nothing like grand apart from a few scenes.
It’s a good movie, but if you know the history, you may find something incomplete. So, take my advice watch this movie without linking it with any historical events, take it as a scripted then you will surely going to enjoy it.
Samrat Prithviraj Cast
If we talk about the casting of the movie, then I would like to say that the casting was not that good enough. Supporting actors had delivered their good work, but when we come to the lead role, Akshay Kumar doesn’t fit with the character of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan.
The character of the movie wants some powerful acting and a charismatic aura, but Akshay Kumar fails in it terribly. Akshay Kumar should have taken more time to take this role.
This kind of role needs proper timing and dedication, only this character of Samrat Prithviraj will appear impactful in the theatres. Miss World Manushi Chillar was just okay with her look. In some scenes, while delivering the dialogues she totally messed with her expression, decent acting by miss world. But her dance was really fantastic and smooth in the movie and obviously, she is looking very beautiful throughout the whole movie.
Sonu Sood as Chand Vardai Bhatt who wrote the poems for the movie was really brilliant with his acting. Sanjay Dutt was also superb and impactful as Kaka Kanha.
Talking about Mohammad Ghori’s role, Manav Vij was looking like ghori but he is not looking dangerous at all. He was looking calm and chill throughout the film. Manav Vij is a brilliant actor, but don’t know what happened with him in this movie.
Samrat Prithviraj Story
The movie starts with a powerful action scene of Akshay Kumar, where he is fighting with lions. The story contains a battleground fight between Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan and Mohammad Ghori, which is depicted well by the filmmakers but you will notice after watching the fighting sequence that the story moves very fast and where the romance and drama come, suddenly the movie gets slow.
Apart from the battle between Samrat Prithviraj and Mohammad Ghori, the movie shows you a beautiful love story between Sanyogita and Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. But movie should focus more on the political aspect. Political planning and plotting scenes were very less in the movie. Only the battlefield scene and romance were shown in the movie. The VFX department does really amazing work in the battleground scenes, Cinematography was great. Overall a nice movie, definitely a worthy visual treat for movie lovers with a decent storyline.
Samrat Prithviraj Box Office Performance
This movie failed to create an impression on the audience and failed bizarrely at the Indian box office. The film received a mixed response from the critics. It was made on a reported budget between 150 crores -300 crores rupees till now. Akshay Kumar starrer Samrat Prithviraj is streaming on Amazon Prime video less than a month after its theatrical release.
The film headed to the theatres on June 3. Now streaming on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video and Disney Hotstar form July 1.
