Starting the review with this statement of the Chief Minister of Kerala from 2006 to 2011, because I suppose this is the best way to start reviewing this powerful and one of the most uncomfortable movies I ever watched.
The Kerala story is a 2023 Indian-Hindi language movie based on real-life events, which is directed by Sudipto Sen and the film script is also written by Sudipto Sen along with Suryapal Singh and Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
The movie is also produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The movie starring four girls as lead performers and they are Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Sidhi Idnani.
The Kerala Story Cast
In the cast of The Kerala Story, you’ll see actresses performing their flawless performances on the big screen.
In the main lead, we have Adah Sharma as Shalini Unnikrishnan / Fatima. A South Indian girl who looks very pretty and innocent throughout the movie and her performance in this movie is worth watching, truly amazing.
Yogita Bihani as Nimah. Despite her small role and limited screen time, she delivered an impactful performance while playing a nursing student and a Catholic believer, her expressions, dialogues, and emotions can’t be ignored.
Sidhi Idnani as Geetanjali. Playing a decent yet important and connecting role through all the characters.
Sonia Balani as Asifa. her character in the movie will force you to hate her throughout the whole movie but at the same time, you’ll appreciate her for doing that role so good that you actually forget that she’s not a real character and just playing a role.
That is a true win for an artist. Hats off to all four girls.
The Kerala Story Movie Story
The story of this film is based on the Kerala region and is inspired by the true life events and cases of many girls.
The story of the film follows a bunch of people who were assigned by ISIS, a terrorist group. The Kerala Story movie roams around four girls, who were born in different states of South India and wanted to become a nurse and to serve humanity. But they have no clue what was going to happen to them.
Story of a terrorist gang that traps innocent local girls from Kerala and convinces them to accept Islam and sent them to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria and forces them to become a part of a terrorist group.
The makers of the film claim that thousands of women from Kerala were converted to Islam and recruited into ISIS. In this movie, you are only going to see just a single girl’s story and it will definitely make you feel uncomfortable, so just think about those thousands of girls who suffer this every single day. What about them?
The Kerala Story Budget & Box Office Collection
Sudipto Sen directed movie The Kerala Story estimated budget is said to be Rs 8.03 crores, and it is released on 5 May, 2023. The movie has shown a good start and movie managed to earn Rs. 8.03 crores at the box office and gets a better opening than Selfiee, Shehzada, and Kashmir Files on its very first day at the box office.
The film is among the top five openers of the year. The second-day collection was 12.50 crores(early estimate). The movie’s controversial and sensitive topics start grabbing the audience’s attention and most likely the ticket counters are expected to grow over the weekend.
The total runtime of the movie is 2hr 18mins.
The Kerala Story Movie Overview
A must-watch movie for all, Highly recommended. My motive for recommending this movie to everyone is only for awareness, nothing else.
Some says the movie is a work of fiction and some says it’s inspired by a true event but if this ISIS trap is still working around our country then this is actually a matter of concern for all of us.
My appeal for this movie is only to watch it for an awareness purpose, not for to show hate towards any religion. Terrorism is not linked to any religion, it’s just linked with human mind sickness.
