Uunchai is a 2022 Indian Hindi language drama and adventurous film which is directed by Sooraj Barjatya and written by Abhishek Dixit and produced under the banner of Mahaveer Productions, Boundless media and Rajshri productions.

The film Uunchai stars many evergreen artists of the film Industry like Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Neenu Gupta, and Danny Denzongpa in the lead roles.

This film is based on the everlasting friendship between them.

In this movie, you will see many actors who came to the screen after a while. The film has a top-notch casting of actors who delivered their roles with more ease and dedication which surely made this film watchable.

In the main lead, we can see Amitabh Bachchan as Amit Srivastav, a best-seller writer and author. The character of Amit Srivastav played by Amitabh Bachchan and I personally don’t think anyone can match his level of acting and facial expression which will give you a loud laugh.

Anupam Kher as Om Sharma, another great actor and great performance by Anupam Kher. You will enjoy his role while watching him on screen.

Boman Irani as Javed Siddiqui, he’s looking very handsome throughout the film and his comic timing in the film is also very fine like his acting.

Danny Denzongpa as Bhupen, his role is very limited in the movie but whenever he comes to the screen, he seems very charming.

There are many more actors in the film. Parineeti Chopra as Shraddha Gupta, Neena Gupta as Shabina Siddiqui (Javed’s wife), Sarika as Mala Trivedi, Nafisa Ali Sodhi as Abhilasha Shrivastav (Amit’s wife), Sheen Dass as Heeba (Javed and Shabina’s daughter), Abhishek Singh Pathania as Valli (Heeba’s husband), Raju Kher as Guddu Sharma (Om’s brother).

Uunchai Story

The movie Uunchai is based on a friendship between four friends and every individual belongs to a completely different background. They are best friends, who can do anything for their friends, they are like family and their friendship is also aged better like their own age.

The movie starts with a birthday party of Bhupen (Danny Denzongpa) where all four friends met after a while. The four are together that night and made that night very memorable for the Bhupen.

Bhupen has a wish to conquer mount Everest with their group of friends but all of them refused to climb Mount Everest because of their age.

The next morning Bhupen was dead because of cardiac arrest. Then the three met in their house and finds that how eagerly Bhupen wanted to climb Mount Everest then Amit Srivastav (Amitabh Bachchan) convinced all two for trek to at least Mount Everest base camp as Bhupen’s last wish and later that trek turn out to personal emotional and spiritual journey as they battle their physical limitations at that old age.

Uunchai Movie Budget and Collection

Sooraj Barjatya directed movie Uunchai is released on 11 November 2022 theatrically with very limited screens.

A budget of approx Rs 35 crores is used for making this film. On its first day of release, the movie manages to earn only 1.81 crores and after 3 days of theatrical run, the movie’s total earnings is approx Rs 14.92 crores.

The songs like Keti ko and Ladki Pahadi in this movie are simply amazing and just a treat for our ears and all the credit goes to lyricist Irshad Kamil, who did such an amazing job with his pen.

The movie gets mixed reviews from critics. The movie run time is 170 minutes.

The OTT rights of this film is yet to be announced.
