Drishyam 2 Review

Drishyam 2 is a Bollywood Indian Hindi-language crime thriller film which is directed by Abhishek Pathak, the previous part of Bollywood’s Drishyam was directed by Nishikant Kamat but he is no more with us.

Drishyam 2 is also a remake of a 2021 Malayalam film with the same name just like the first part of Bollywood’s Drishyam which is released in 2015.The production houses which produced this movie were T-Series films, Panorama Studios and Viacom18 Studios. The film stars Ajay Devgn, Akshay Khanna, Shriya Saran, and Tabu in the lead role and Rajat Kapoor, Mural Jadhav and Nishita Dutta in the supporting role.

Drishyam 2 Cast

In this film, there are many actors whose acting can amaze you. If you have watched Drishyam (2015) then you better know that there are all the same actors in this and included few more who add extra masala and potential to this film.

In the main lead, Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar. In the previous part, he was a cable operator but now he is the owner of a movie theatre and an aspiring film producer. He is just magnificent in his role like the previous part, one thing is for sure that no one can do better justice to this role than him.

Tabu as Meera Deshmukh (Sam’s mother), former IG. Tabu has very few scenes in this movie but she totally nailed it with her powerful performance. Akshaye Khanna as IG Tarun Ahlawat (Meera’s colleague), is playing a badass IG in this film and he is brilliant in his role. You can’t remove your eyes from him, once he arrives on the screen.

Shriya Saran as Nandini Salgaonkar (Vijay’s wife and mother of Anju and Anu), her acting and expressions were really defining the definition of innocence.

In supporting roles, there are many actors who did phenomenal performance like Kamlesh Sawant as suspended Sub-Inspector Laxmikant Gaitonde, Saurabh Shukla as Murad Ali (screenwriter) and the other various supporting artist was also on point i.e., Ishita Dutta as Anju Salgaonkar (elder daughter of Vijay), Mrunal Jadhav as Anu Salgaonkar (younger daughter of Vijay), Rajat Kapoor as Mahesh Deshmukh (Meera’s husband), Neha Joshi as Jenny (Vijay’s neighbor), Samvedna Suwalka as Advocate Gayatri (Vijay’s lawyer), Prathamesh Parab as Jose (Vijay’s cable boy).

Yogesh Soman as Assistant Inspector Vinayak Sawant, Siddharth Bodke as David (a convict sentenced for murder), Nishant Singh as Shiv (Jenny’s husband), Sameer Deshpande as Advocate Siraj Ahmed, Ashmita Jaggi as Mary (David’s wife), Rajiv Kumar Aneja as Tehsildar, Sharad Butadiya as Martin (Owner of the hotel outside Pondolem Police Station).

Drishyam 2 Story

The story continues where they left off in the previous part and shows how things changed and settled down after Sam’s murder. Now Ajay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgn) owns a theatre and going to be a film producer.

Everything seems very settled and the Salgaonkar’s family was living there like in peace until the entry of IG Tarun Ahlawat (Akshaye Khanna) who is way smarter and more brilliant than the Meera Deshmukh. After the long break of seven years, the case was once again opened by the IG Tarun Ahlawat who is also a great friend and batchmate of Meera. The evidence has found by the police and now the truth was in front of everyone.

What do you think, how can Ajay Salgaonkar save his family from this situation? Relax I know you can’t and neither I’m going to tell it to you. Before the interval, the story may seems a little bit slow but don’t move your eyes from the details.In the first half, it gives you hints and after the interval, it’s all making sense and at the climax, it’s banging on. Literally, you will stand up to their seats and clap, it will surprise and amaze you all together.

Drishyam 2 Box Office Collection

Abhishek Pathak directed movie Drishyam 2 is released on 18 November 2022 theatrically and the budget of the film is said to be approx Rs 50 crores. On the very first day of release, the film managed to earn Rs 15.38 crores and became the second-best opening in the year only after Ranvir Kapoor’s Brahmastra. Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 recorded one of the best advance sales of tickets and is expected to grow more over the weekends.

The film gets a positive review from critics. The movie run time is 170 minutes and earns Rs 21 crores till the second morning of its release and yes, this film is a try-and-tested recipe because its a remake of Mohanlal’s magic but Ajay Devgn’s attempts at this is also as great as Mohanlal. The movie is said to be available on Amazon prime video by end of the year 2022.

Is Drishyam 2 Worth-watching?

Please don’t be confused about this movie, go and watch it in the nearest theatre. It has everything that a fan of crime thriller movie will love. If you have already watched the Malayalam version with Hindi or English subtitles then maybe it will not amaze you that much but if you’re totally unaware of the Malayalam version then this movie deserves your attention.

It’s full of suspense thrillers and hearts wrenching situations and at last, it will blow up your mind for sure. A fine remake by Bollywood that lacks nothing and has everything you need as a movie lover.
