Mili Review

Mili is a 2022 Indian Hindi language that is based on a survival thriller. This movie is the remake of the Malayalam film Helen. It was written by Alfred Kurian Joseph, Noble Babu Thomas and Mathukutty Xavier. Which is released on the year 2019 and in 2020, Boney Kapoor bought the rights to remake Malayalam film Helen (2019) in Hindi.

This film is also directed by Mathukutty Xavier and produced by Boney Kapoor. This movie stars Boney Kapoor’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal and Manoj Pahwa in the lead role.

The film follows the story of a woman who is stuck in the freezer and fights the cold to stay alive.

In the movie, you will see the young talent of Bollywood in the main lead along with some fine senior actors. The movie is a blend of young talent and evergreen actors.

In the main lead, you will see Janhvi Kapoor as Mili Naudiyal, who is playing the role of a B.Sc Nursing graduate student and aiming for IELTS. Jahnvi Kapoor’s performance was really good in this film, she acts brilliantly for the role. She keeps upgrading and improving her acting skill and performance day by day.

Sunny Kaushal as Sameer (Mili’s boyfriend), his acting as Sameer was just okay okay. He delivered what is needed for the role. Decent acting by him.

Manoj Pahwa as Mr. Naudiyal (Mili’s father), Manoj Pahwa is a great actor in Indian cinema. In this film, he gets only a limited role but he delivered his best in the role.

There are many more actors and guest appearances in the movie i.e., Seema Pahwa as Devki Negi, Jackie Shroff (special appearance), Hasleen Kaur as Hasleen, Rajesh Jais as Mohan Chachu, Vikram Kochhar as Sudheer Malkoti, Anurag Arora as SI. Satish Rawat, Sanjay Suri as Inspector Ravi Prasad, Joginder Goyat as Shyam.

Mili Story

The film story is about Mili Naudiyal who is a B.Sc nursing graduate and wanted to go to Canada so, she also attends IELTS coaching classes intended for the job abroad.

For her daily expenses, she also works part-time at a restaurant named Doon’s kitchen, which is located inside the plush mall. Mr. Naudiyal (Manoj Pahwa) who is an insurance agent was disagreed on her abroad going, so they both have disagreed with each other on this topic.

Mili has a boyfriend named Sameer (Sunny Kaushal), a good-for-nothing guy who is in search for a job. One night, when Sameer was riding bike to drop Mili at her home, police stopped both of them for not wearing helmet and caught for drunken driving and they brought them to the police station where the officer called her father Mr. Naudiyal.

And, is in dismay at seeing his daughter and does not talk to her. On the very next night after work at the Doon’s kitchen. Mili’s manager Sudheer Malkoti unknowingly locks her in the freezer room at -18*C.
This is the story of a girl, how she survives at -18*C and how police found her.

Mathukutty Xavier directed movie was released on 4 November 2022 theatrically.

The movie has made with a budget of only Rs 30 crores and at the end of 3 days theatrical run, the movie has only managed to earn estimated Rs 1.60 crores which was really a huge disappointment for the makers of this film. The movie gets mixed reviews from critics.

The song of the movie was composed by legendary A.R Rahman with lyrics written by Jaaved Akhtar. The movie run time is 127 minutes. The OTT rights of this film is yet to be announced.
